Yellow Water Cruises Gagudju Lodge Cooinda is the base for the world renowned Yellow Water Cruises, where crocodiles, birds, fresh water mangroves and exotic tropical trees are a regular sighting amongst this extraordinary territory. The cruise offers passengers pristine wetlands and the opportunity to see wildlife (crocodiles and birds) at close quarters. In their commentary, the guides orientate the passengers; describe the river system and the importance of the wetlands, identifying the flora and fauna explaining their behavior in connection with the ancient culture of the Gagudju people. Ranger Uranium Mine A quarter hour tour visiting a working uranium mine, Ranger Mine. You will travel in a small air-conditioned coach to the open cut mine and receive a stage by stage explanation of the extraction, milling and processing of uranium. You will also be able to walk to the edge of the pit. Animal Tracks Animal Tracks is a small hands-on tour in the heart of Kakadu that will make you feel like you understand and can survive the Australian outback. Departing from Gagudju Lodge Cooinda, you will enter traditional hunting grounds that contain the greatest mass of animals in Kakadu. Animal Tracks visits several different habitats along its 120 km journey. Many of the well-known wildlife of the tropical Northern Territory can be viewed from the safety of your forward seated 4WD safari vehicle. Most tours are accompanied by traditional Aboriginal people. Their presence is decided on a daily basis. Daily activities can be: Pandanus basket natural collection; Pandanus basket natural dye collection; Long Yam (potato) digging; Other bush food collections. You can listen to very important Aboriginal stories of spirits, dreaming sites, marriage and "skin" lays of this country. These are ancient laws from dreamtime that can teach us all good lessons. Yellow Water Fishing Safaris This is an opportunity to not only fish a world heritage listed wetland, but also to enjoy Kakadu's famous fauna and flora from the safety of a small boat. Yellow Water Fishing Tours take you fishing in a 4.75-metre (15 1/2-ft.) sportfishing boat. Tours depart from Jabiru, 5 kilometres (3 miles) east of the Bowali Visitor Centre. They also do fly-fishing. Kakadu Air Kakadu Air offers a half-hour and hour scenic flight; and a 20min, 30min, 45min, or 70min helicopter flight. These spectacular scenic flights offer a bird's-eye view of Kakadu and provide the only means of seeing the spectacular Jim Jim Falls and Twin Falls during the Wet.
